trans-siberian railway black tea brick NEW!
Tea bricks have been manufactured in China for over 2000 years. The tea is steamed and forced under hydraulic pressure into flat bricks, reducing the amount of surface area exposed to air. Tea originally travelled on camel caravans from China to Russia, and the voyage of approximately 11,000 miles took about 16 months. The opening of the Trans-Siberian Railway in 1880 dramatically sped up the delivery of tea to Russia. Once the Trans-Siberian Railway was opened, the tea took only 7 weeks to arrive!
